Can Ya Dig It?

Thu Jun 23, 2005, 7:38 PM
Can ya dig it? That's my new catch phrase for whatever reason. Not sure why or where but started using it like 3 weeks ago and now everything is "Can Ya Dig It?" :lmao: Anyway.....

Not much changing in the world of P right now - still job hunting - still looking for a good date - still deciding where in the US I could be happy living - still waiting on my ex to finish his end of the divorce bargain - still waiting .......... :bored:

Oh wait! One thing did change!! The color of my hair..... yeppers...... yours truly is no longer a blonde. Perhaps (if the mood strikes) I will do something to show the new hair color and post it up. But eeeeehhhhhh, who knows. :hmm:

Something else that has randomly danced across my mind recently...... is all this digital communicatin we do hampering the way we handle real life relationships? I mean I have acquantances (not gonna mis-use the word friend) that they see me in real life they barely speak or act like they don't know me.... but put them in some chat room or message board or such and it's like we are the bestest of friends. I don't get it..... Ring a phone to actually say HELLO - out of the question.... maybe you can look for an email to come instead. While I love the ease all this technology offers I kinda miss the real world - the human interaction - the people factor. Funnier still .... most people in my real world sux as friends so I'm not sure exactly why I miss them! Anyway - that was my rant for the day. :giggle:

I got :cookie: and :milk: and :pie: and  why not stop by for a visit? We can sit and chat a while.

your new catch phrase reminds me heavily of another time in my life that was full of guys who used to say that... sluggishly and about the most ridiculous things.

Anyway, I've pondered the tech friendship thing too. It's weird. I'd say my best friends are on dA right now. .. except for family and a very very few exceptions. I've always been a written communication sort of person.. and I never did a lot of hanging around with friends so.. this works for me at the moment.

LOL.. there are few folks around here I care to spend much time with!

:giggle: I heard that phrase, "Can ya dig it?" On American Idol by this crazy dude that couldn't sing but he was freakin' hilarious  So needless to say, your journal title made me chuckle. :D

I've constantly wondered over the whole technology thing as well. I've noticed with me it's easier to talk to certain people online rather than on the phone and the only reason I can think of is there's a certain comfort to not have to answer back right away or the whole awkward pause doesn't exist....I dunno. I actually don't understand how it's so much easier to email or chat online then actually calling someone up or chatting in person. Maybe it is the comfort level? You're in your own surroundings, you don't have to go anywhere and such... It's a bit confusing as well as disheartening that we can't just talk to each other comfortably without being behind a keyboard. :hmm:

But I still am happy to have friends online as well as on DA even if I may be ruining my social life in the real life department. I think I'm doing okay so far though! :giggle: It's all real life really, just different ways of interactions.

Yeah it's interesting how greater inhibitions and incompatibilities can occur in person or over the phone, when people are on the spot and more self conscious and don't have time to first microanalyze their words, than over the net. Part of it is that maybe people who are less socially confident find themselves chatting more online to begin with, but part of it may indeed be a real loss of face to face intimacy, though the intimacy that anonymity brings almost makes up for it, especially for eccentrics who find it difficult to find people next door to relate to on odd subjects of interest.
